Vanna
Vanna is a sweet, shy mini horse who loves spending time with her big brother, Shane.
Vanna is a twenty-nine-year-old mini horse who suffers from night blindness. She was found in someone's overgrown field severely overweight, with hooves that were so long that they had curled under, making it painful and difficult for her to walk. She was reported to Fish & Wildlife, then surrendered to Center Valley Animal Rescue. A Farm for Annie founder Cathy visited CVAR to rescue some chickens to add to her existing flock. . . and came home with Vanna instead!
Vanna's Care
Vanna is blind at night, and therefore needs her own pasture and barn to feel safe in the dark. Vanna also suffers from Cushing's Disease, a progressive metabolic disorder that causes laminitis (severe hoof inflammation) and metabolic issues that affect fur, muscle, and weight. She receives specialty trims to avoid laminitis, a carefully-curated diet to manage her weight, and Prascend, a medication that mitigates the effects of Cushing's.
