Mouse

Mouse is a kind, intelligent mare who loves looking after the herd, grazing in our upper pasture, and laying flat-out in the sunshine.

Mouse is a twenty-year-old quarter horse mare and Alex's half-sister. She was originally rescued by Center Valley Animal Rescue from a large hoarding situation. For about ten years, she was adopted and brought back to CVAR multiple times by different owners due to bucking under saddle. She was eventually deemed "unridable," and adopted by Leigh Hearon as a companion for one of her other horses. At Leigh's farm, it was discovered that Mouse suffered from an enlarged ovary, causing severe pain during her heat cycles — the most likely cause for her episodes of bucking. Eventually, Leigh turned Mouse over to A Farm for Annie for her retirement.

Mouse's Care

Mouse needs to be monitored closely during her heat cycles, and receives Bute for pain and inflammation relief. She also receives multiple supplements for ongoing hormone support, including raspberry leaf and Vitamin E.
