Shamrock (Shammy)
Shammy is a sassy mini donkey who will do anything for treats! She is incredibly friendly and sweet, and serves as a wonderful ambassador for A Farm for Annie.
Shammy is a twenty-year-old mini donkey jenny. She was surrendered to A Farm for Annie when her owner moved away; at the time, she was severely overweight and could not walk far. Now, she loves to run around in the pasture with her friends Shane, Vanna, and Cinnamon.
Shammy's Care
Shammy suffers from Cushing's Disease, a progressive metabolic disorder that causes laminitis (severe hoof inflammation) and metabolic issues that affect fur, muscle, and weight. Shammy receives specialty trims to avoid laminitis, a special diet to manage her weight, and Prascend, a medication that mitigates the effects of Cushing's.
